If I am licensed in another state, what do I need to do to transfer that license to Alabama?
You will need to show proof of licensure in your current state, and pay the $100 fee. If you have been licensed for (at least) five years or have passed a board-approved practical exam and a written exam, no exams are required. If you have been licensed fewer than five years or have not yet passed a board-approved exam, you may be required to pass both a practical exam and a written exam.

What do I need to do to transfer my license from Alabama to another state?
You will need to make a written request for the board to send a letter of certification to the state where you will be going. Many states now accept an on-line verification, but you will need to confirm that with the new state. This service is free.

Requirements for reciprocity from another country: (see note below)
You will need all information regarding education, such as school transcripts and diplomas.
You will need your transcripts of professional training hours from your cosmetology school.
You will need a copy of your current license and how long license has been held.
You will need information regarding whether or not you have owned a beauty business in your home country.
(Note) All information must be in English and translated by a certified translator.
