Free back-to-school haircuts for kids

"The first day of school is a day kids want to look their best. Remington College in Mobile is helping kids start the year off right, with a free haircut.

Last year Remington provided more than three-thousand haircuts across the country through the "Cuts for Kids" program. The students in the cosmetology program provide the cuts. Parents can bring any child, 17-years-old and younger in for a free cut. On top of that, any parent that comes in with their child gets 50% off a cut as well.

Remington College-Mobile Campus President Stephen Backman said with these tough economic times, it was a way the college could help out the community.

"Cuts for Kids is a way for us to help parents save some money and help kids look and feel their best when they go back to school," said Backman.

The "Cuts for Kids" program starts Monday, August 1st, and runs through Friday, August 12th. Parents can make appointments through the Remington College School of Cosmetology or just walk-in. The school is open Monday through Friday, 10am - 2pm.

The Remington College Cosmetology Program teaches students the art of hair, skin and nail care through traditional classroom instruction and hands-on training. Students have the opportunity to work with real clients in a salon-like setting.

Remington College School of Cosmetology is located at 4368 Downtowner Loop South in Mobile."
