Congratulations to everyone participating the Milan Institute of Cosmetology graduation this weekend:
Milan Institute and Milan Institute of Cosmetology will hold a combined graduation ceremony for 200 graduates.
The event is 8 p.m. on Saturday, at the Red Oak Ballroom in the Crossroads Mall, 4522 Fredericksburg Road.
The graduating classes consist of students who have completed the cosmetology (operator license) and esthetician (facialist license) programs.
“Our graduates have worked hard for this moment,” said Dee Harris, school director of Milan Institute of Cosmetology.
“Many of our students are single parents and had to attend school and work to support their family. In an unstable economy where
unemployment rates are soaring, these graduates have taken the future into their own hands by committing to learning the skills
they need to have a better career.”

Impacted school
Schools are impacted enough now but cosmetology programs are growing more and more impacted every year. I believe schools need to address this issue sooner rather than later before students are unable to attend a beauty or technical school.
Any Suggestions
I recently began a beauty program for esthetics and was only there for about a month and a half. It is practically the only beauty school in about a fifty mile ratio. I did not have a good experience there at all! I dropped out of the school yesterday, and I am really upset about the whole thing. I would love to hear if anyone else has had a similiar situation or any suggestions. I really would like to report the school because I did lose about two grand in such a short time and do not believe I can get any of my money back. However, I would like some satisfaction by thru a formal complaint---just not sure where to go. In a brief description of the problem(s), I was placed in a class where the teacher formed almost fratlike buddies in the class that she was mostly teaching exclusively to, leaving on class/business time to go shopping with them and that left the other students in the class waiting for her return, exclusive free passes to her "special friends" for them to leave early for a shopping sale with no lost time, and allowing them to reprimand other fellow student that they felt were not performing well. I complained to the office and was told by the assistant to the owner of the school that she would handle it because the owner was not available for me to meet with personally. Although the director did say that she would bring it to the owners attention, however, to date I never received a follow up call after I stated that I would no longer continue on with the school. I also had one meeting with the director and the teacher together to express the problem I was having and that I was not fully benefited from the school. The director did not seem too concerned about what I feel is a big injust to the school and students who are paying a good deal of money to attend the school. Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks very much! Cam
Cam, what was the school
