KCK Nail Student Wins Katy Perry Contest
KANSAS CITY, Kan.— A Kansas City Kansas Community College student won a national competition for her artistic skills will fingernail polish!
Cosmetology student Heather Mellot says she entered the OPI Katy Perry Contest on Facebook just for fun. She had no idea she'd be the grand prize winner.
Her design was inspired by the Katy Perry music video for the song Firework. She says being able to show her creativity is why she loves doing nails.
"I knew it would be fun, but I didn't know you get to be so creative," said Mellot. "That's the fun part for me. You can literally do masterpiece works of art on a nail and for some reason working in that little space it's very relaxing to me."
Mellot won a guitar signed by Katy Perry. Perry also has a new line of nail polish.
