FYI: Collecting the gift of hair for young children and adults suffering from long-term hair loss has become an important way for Del Mar College's Cosmetology Program and its students to give back. Tomorrow, April 21, students will collect donations for Locks of Love, the organization that supplies natural wigs to financially disadvantaged children and young adults who have lost their hair during cancer treatment or diseases that cause hair loss, such as Alopecia and Autoimmune Disease.
The program also collects donations throughout the year and will take hair donations cut by individuals themselves. Hair donations must be a minimum of 10 inches and not chemically damaged or bleached (color or permed hair is acceptable) for the process of manufacturing wigs. Anyone wishing to donate hair anytime during the year can make an appointment with the DMC Cosmetology Program by calling 698-1723.
