Sajoir beauty school opening in San Antonio
"Career Quest has launched a new beauty institute called Sajóir that will be located next to TJ Maxx in The Rim Shopping Center in Northwest San Antonio.
Jeanne Riojas Martin, Sajóir (pronounced say-zhor) founder and president of Career Quest, says Career Quest has been primarily known as a nursing and allied health school in San Antonio. But now the school (which also plans to change its name soon to Quest College ) wants to expand its offerings.
"We decided that since we’ve been in a growth pattern in health for so long, why not have a branch that focuses on the wellness side of things," Riojas Martin says.
Sajóir also will be an affiliated-member beauty institute of Pivot Point.
Riojas Martin says this school will differ from similar schools in that it will focus on teaching students hair sculpture and design.
"We’re looking for people who are interested in becoming a designer in hair sculpting, not just in getting their license," Riojas Martin says, adding that upon completion of the training and receipt of their license these individuals will be able to work in higher end salons. "Their training will go beyond what the state requires ... ."
Sajóir plans to launch its classes on Monday, Aug. 1.
The school will offer a year of courses in the areas of cosmetology, esthetics, nail technician and instructor training. The courses will begin every three weeks, with two sessions running simultaneously three days a week (from Monday-Wednesday and then from Thursday-Saturday).
On Sundays, the school will host events to advance community awareness. such as father-and-son-hair cut days or fashion shows that benefit battered women.
In mid-September, the school will open its services to the public — to people with appointments or to those who walk in. Sajóir will focus on the use of natural, environmentally friendly products.
The school is currently offering scholarships to eligible applicants to cover half of the tuition for the first class of trainees. Tuition costs anywhere from $2,700 to $16,500.00, plus kits."
