Colorado Cosmetology Licensing Requirements

In order to obtain a license in Cosmetology, Esthetics, Nail Technology, or Barbering in the state of Colorado, individuals must have completed the requirements listed below. Other requirements may apply.

Cosmetologist: 1800 (60 credits)
Barber: 1500 (50 credits)
Cosmetician: 600 (20 credits)
Manicurist: 600 (20 credits)
Hairstylist: 1200 (40 credits)

Minimum Requirements:

Individuals applying for licensure must be at least 16 years of age.

License by Endorsement $75
Renewal (two year) $40
Late Fee (for renewals after the expiration date) $15
Reinstatement $55

Reciprocity:

Colorado does not have reciprocity, but does have endorsements, and applicants who hold an active license in another state may apply for endorsement. Applications will be reviewed on an individual basis.
