Mississippi Cosmetology Licensing Requirements

In order to obtain a license in Barbering, Cosmetology, Nail Technology or Esthetics in the state of Mississippi, individuals must complete the requirements listed below. Other requirements may apply.

Cosmetologist: 1550 hours
Esthetician: 600 hours
Nail Technician: 350 hours
Barber: 1500 hours

Licensing Fee Schedule: (Fees subject to change)

Original Applications for Examination. Includes an Application Fee and a Two-Year License Fee

Practitioner: Cosmetologist, Nail Technician, Esthetician $85.00
Application for Reciprocity: Processing, and Two-Year License $105.00

Continuing Education Requirements:

Applies to Instructors and Master Cosmetologists only.

Reciprocity:

Permitted with these states: Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, and West Virginia.
