Tennessee Cosmetology Licensing Requirements
In order to obtain a license in Barbering, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Nail Technology, in the state of Tennessee, individuals must complete the requirements listed below. Other requirements may apply.
Cosmetologist: 1500 hours
Esthetician: 750 hours
Nail Technology: 600 hours
Barber: 1500 hours
Licensing Fee Schedule: (Fees subject to change)
Fee schedule is for all cosmetology fields and barbering.
Theory and Practical Exam Fee: $140
Continuing Education Requirements:
Reciprocity:
If applicant is a licensed Cosmetologist, Esthetician, Nail Technician, or Barber but does not meet the required classroom hours (see above) and cannot provide a five year work history, applicant will need to submit an application for reciprocity to the Board office. Additional requirements may apply.
