Vermont Cosmetology License Information

In order to obtain a license in Cosmetology, Esthetics, Nail Technology, or Barbering in the state of Vermont, individuals must complete the requirements listed below. Other requirements may apply.

Cosmetologist: 1500 hours
Esthetician: 600 hours
Nail Technologist: 400 hours
Barber: 1000 hours

Application Fees for all fields: $50
Biennial Fees for all fields: $80

Reciprocity:

Reciprocity is granted to individuals who hold a license in states whose requirements are equal to, or greater than, those of Vermont's requirements. The board may issue a license to an applicant who is currently licensed or certified in another jurisdiction in good standing, provided the applicant has been in active practice for at least three (3) years immediately preceding application.
