Delaware Cosmetology License Information

In order to obtain a license in Barbering, Cosmetology or Nail Technology in the state of Delaware, individuals must complete the requirements listed below. Other requirements may apply.

Cosmetologist or Barber: 1500 classroom hours (or 3000 apprenticeship hours)
Nail Technician: 125 classroom hours (or 250 apprenticeship hours)
Esthetician: 300 classroom hours (or 600 apprenticeship hours)
Electrologist: 300 classroom hours (or 600 apprenticeship hours)

Reciprocity:

Reciprocity extends to all States, including Washington DC
Applicants from a state with less-stringent requirements than Delaware are required to provide a notarized statement from a present or prior employer, or employers, testifying to work experience in the field for which the applicant is seeking a license in Delaware for a period of one year before making application. The work experience must have been obtained in a state (or jurisdiction) outside Delaware. Unlicensed practice within the State of Delaware will not qualify as valid work experience.
