Kansas Cosmetology License Information

In order to obtain a license in Cosmetology, Nail Technology, Esthetics, or Electrology in the state of Kansas, individuals must complete the requirements listed below. Other requirements may apply.

Cosmetologist: 1500 hours
Esthetician: 650 hours
Nail Technician: 350 hours
Electrology: 500 hours

Cosmetologist examination fee $50.00

Continuing Education Requirements:

Licensees are required to obtain 15 clock hours of continuing education every three (3) years before renewal of their licenses. Proof of continuing education must be submitted with renewal application and renewal fee.

Reciprocity:

Individuals must have 1500 hours and have been working in the field for at least one year, and hold a current license. Individuals having fewer than 1500 hours will need to take a practical examination. (Individuals may obtain a temporary permit which allows them to work, pending examination)
